Robotics & Coding Club
BlokTec is all about teaching STEM robotics to students & enthusiasts alike.
BlokTec use "real-world", programmable, Lego-compatible robots to establish and reinforce engineering, technical & programming skills as we explore our world through stimulating themes & stories.
We offer both fun & education with robotics - online and in-person
All are welcomed, supported & encouraged to explore their world through robotics & coding, keeping things simple yet motivating, based upon fun and a solid foundation. We take learning and education beyond the class setting by providing an affordable, Lego compatible robot to every course attendee.
We also strive to develop stronger "social connection" online through participation, discussion & shared challenges.
BlokTec teaching methods utilise a broad range of subject material combined with repetition to develop coding & technical knowledge, offering a more wholistic approach.
Dave has a passion for STEAM education, believes in empowering young people to develop their full potential and offers a unique set of skills & experience to realize this:
Dave has a B.Sc. in computer science & well over 20 years I.T. experience - working in commercial, technical & regulatory sectors. He has worked in NZ, UK, Belgium & Switzerland. His broad-ranging I.T. and management experience has benefited numerous companies.
Dave also has a keen interest in film-making & story development. He studied script development and submitted his first short film to the 2006 Cannes Film Festival, which he also attended. He is also Head of Trustees for Newstead Road Pre-School.
Having lead 'live' Lego robotics after-school classes for 2 years and in response to a clear need during the Covid situation, he established BlokTec in November 2020 to make these course offerings more accessible in an increasingly 'online' world.
